Referrals & Rebate

Medicare rebates and GP referrals

You don't need a referral to see Ruth, but if you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Care Plan.

Mental Health Care Plan

Under Medicare's Better Access initiative, eligible Australians can access a rebate for sessions with a registered psychologist. Your GP can assess your eligibility and prepare a Mental Health Care Plan, which entitles you to a set number of subsidised sessions per calendar year.

How it works

  1. 1. See your GP. Discuss how you've been feeling and ask about a Mental Health Care Plan.
  2. 2. Get a referral. Your GP will write a referral addressed to Ruth Forman.
  3. 3. Book your session. Bring your referral and plan details to your first appointment.
  4. 4. Claim your rebate. After payment, the Medicare rebate is processed for you on the day where possible.

Private health & EAP

If you have private health insurance with psychology cover, you may be eligible to claim a rebate through your provider (you cannot claim through both Medicare and private health for the same session). Employee Assistance Programs are also welcome — please mention this when you enquire.
