Referrals & Rebate
Medicare rebates and GP referrals
You don't need a referral to see Ruth, but if you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Care Plan.
Mental Health Care Plan
Under Medicare's Better Access initiative, eligible Australians can access a rebate for sessions with a registered psychologist. Your GP can assess your eligibility and prepare a Mental Health Care Plan, which entitles you to a set number of subsidised sessions per calendar year.
How it works
- 1. See your GP. Discuss how you've been feeling and ask about a Mental Health Care Plan.
- 2. Get a referral. Your GP will write a referral addressed to Ruth Forman.
- 3. Book your session. Bring your referral and plan details to your first appointment.
- 4. Claim your rebate. After payment, the Medicare rebate is processed for you on the day where possible.
Private health & EAP
If you have private health insurance with psychology cover, you may be eligible to claim a rebate through your provider (you cannot claim through both Medicare and private health for the same session). Employee Assistance Programs are also welcome — please mention this when you enquire.
